takes weeks to follow with interest the achievement of the sample "Manos Arriba: New Illustrators Guayaquil " (where I am participating), exhibition aims to bring together the work of illustrators with a rising career in the local environment.
Well, as a chronicle each week was seen as changing the date and venue of this event (details have never been heard by the organizers), but people kept up the spirits, until yesterday, announced the new exhibition site:
Store-Cabins-truck- Cantina "The Tunnel" (located on the border between the makeup of urban regeneration and the hill Gye re-appropriate by its inhabitants).
Immediately after accommodating the expectations awakened and obvious questions, I thought the place, although not a site designed for a sample, or suitable for a museum display, it was valid as an alternative space (in its most radical extreme, it is said), and that should help to overcome the obvious obstacles do a show at a store could become an extension of Guayaquil local reality: the absence of platforms to display expressions of an increasingly large group of creators and trends and ever-wider ramifications.
A social / aesthetic / cultural would be a declaration of a state of affairs, where the primary would be the Work and packaging surrounding a necessary but not ideal, of course, all this as an option different from the ideas and scope originally paths: together for the first time show the visual works of 15 new people in the local circuit.
is not an ideal place for a sample: agree.
not have the right conditions of light, space, travel, agreed.
is a lack of respect for exhibitors: I disagree .
A exposure should be an alteration to the cotideanidad, where at times we manage to get into "imaginary worlds" that exist in the heads and processes illustrators, graphic or simply the realization of ideas, an extension of personalities through aesthetic gestures.
I can not take my mother to a store to see my work: why not?.
is my first time presenting and I thought it would be better: better to do?.
The decision of the organizers ( MUCA) I assume that should not be easy, and as I mentioned on page facebook event, must be very stupid or very brave to propose this to 15 expectant exhibitors (including me).
I am not a theorist like to get to shred details about what is and is not art for my art is expression, and as an expression should not depend on a specific place (unless told otherwise by initially planned and ) in case of unusual circumstances.
Now, to call for the subversion or disruption of the schemes may be too pretentious, because they would never impose (or let me impose) a way of thinking, each adds value to their work and much respect decision several exhibitors to refuse to participate in this sort of improvisation, for the simple fact that it did not ultimately be consulted for all to see (and share opinions) on the choice of venue.
The expo has entered a minimum break, and is readily defined today by the new site where the work will be exhibited.
What remains of all this?, Many things to ponder, but never to lose heart or break the "group spirit" that was perceived.
The attitude should be, ironically, to keep up to join hands to do things in an environment where many sometimes difficult to make.
